Uncommon Signs of Dehydration

Writer: theholistichabitshtheholistichabitsh

It is officially Summer!

Happy Summer Solstice, you beautiful souls.

Now that we are welcoming my favorite season, let's talk about dehydration,

Dehydration is a common issue many people know, but did you know that some lesser-known signs indicate your body needs more hydration? My sister, for example, gets so irritable that she is like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode at anyone who even looks her way. On the other hand, the less closely I have to wear, the happier I am. Here are 6 uncommon signs of dehydration.

  1. Dry Eyes and Blurry Vision: While dry mouth is a well-known symptom of dehydration, dry eyes can also indicate that your body lacks sufficient hydration. Dehydration can reduce tear production, leading to dry, irritated eyes and even blurry vision.

  2. Brain Fog and Poor Concentration: Dehydration doesn't just affect your physical well-being; it can also impact your cognitive function. If you find yourself struggling to concentrate, experiencing brain fog, or feeling unusually forgetful, dehydration could be a contributing factor.

  3. Frequent Headaches:  I don't think this one is as uncommon, but it is important. Dehydration can trigger headaches or migraines in some individuals. If you're experiencing frequent headaches without a clear cause, it's worth considering whether you are hydrated enough.

  4. Joint Pain: Dehydration can contribute to stiffness and pain, especially in weight-bearing joints like the knees and hips. Keeping your body hydrated helps lubricate your joints and supports overall joint health.

  5. Mood Changes: Dehydration can affect your mood and emotional well-being. You may feel more irritable (like my sister), anxious, or fatigued when not adequately hydrated.

  6. Dark Urine:  Another that is not that uncommon but important. One of the most straightforward signs of dehydration is dark-colored urine. If your urine is dark yellow or amber, it indicates that you need to hydrate!

It's important to listen to your body and recognize these uncommon signs of dehydration. Remember that staying hydrated is about quenching your thirst and supporting your overall health and well-being. Incorporate regular water intake into your daily routine, especially during hot weather or increased physical activity, to prevent dehydration and its whole messy family because you didn't leave the toxic people in your life behind to have dehydration, then invite its whole dysfunctional family.
